David Blaine – Frozen in Time – Above the Below

On November 27, 2000 Blaine encased himself in a block of ice for 63 hours, 42 minutes and 15 seconds during this time the viewing public could view him 360 degrees 24/7. Also in his piece Above the Below on September 5, 2003, Blaine began another endurance stunt in which he was sealed inside a transparent Plexiglas case for 44 days. I consider these piece to be more like endurance performance art then magic tricks. During this time completely isolated he is awake and unable to communicate with the outside world.

Relating this back to traveling – he was surrounded by people throughout both performers but there was a barrier stopping communicate. Often people would try to get in contact with him but often he didn’t even notice. Similar to the language barrier I faced.
