Self Isolation – Ogmore Beach

Looking at the work of Hiroshi Sugimoto and Erwan Morere me and a friend left for the beach before sunrise in order to photograph me amongst the waves and rocks of the cost line. Photographing at this time of day helped bring the feeling of isolation and insularity to the photographs as we were the only people around in the emptiness of the ocean. When editing the images I thought of the cold, grainy black and white images of the artist but still wanted to display in colour but muted and toned down to show the the cold and almost dead surroundings.

Im not sure yet how this all fits into my medium and style but the idea of being small and lost in the work is still a strong theme thought out my research. Maybe the possibility of sight specific installations in places like this (isolated/ empty) or at times when areas are deserted.
